Happy D-Day!
Gentle People,
On June 6, D-Day, 74 years ago, heavy fire poured down from the distant escarpment, where the American military cemetery one day would be established. U.S. Coast Guard Chief Photographers Mate Robert E. Sargent stood up on a pitching LCVP to make this iconic photograph of Army infantry wading toward Omaha Beach and the enemy.
We can remember them and all ,veterans, by living the values for which they risked everything.
